Transportation Services for Pregnant and Parenting Youth

What is the problem?

Parenting youth frequently struggle with the logistics of continuing their education because they lack the self-sufficiency to pay for and access childcare and/or transportation between their homes, school and childcare facilities.

Why is it important?

Only 53% of parenting youth have earned their high school diploma or GED, and education levels are correlated with earnings and poverty.

What is the solution?

Arkansas should provide transportation services for parenting youth to enable travel between school, home and childcare while enrolled in high school to increase the probability of graduating from high school and reduce the likelihood of living in poverty later in life.
